Flooding and warning of more to come

A flood warning has been issued for the Conwy Valley with severe weather expected tomorrow.

The Elwy River has risen and is under flood watch.

The local Council control room has been activated telephone (01492) 577999 and the Environment and Highways Teams are responding to calls from across the county borough.

There have been reports of properties being flooded at -
Llanrwst, Betws Y Coed, Trefriw, Llanfair Talhaiarn, Dolgarrog and Dolwyddelan

Current road closures include the A470 which is closed between Betws Y Coed and Dolwyddelan

The A5 which is closed at Capel Curig. The B5106 closed between Llanrwst and Trefriw.

The A548 closed at Llanfair Talhaiarn and the A543 closed between Groes and Denbigh

The road between Dolgarrog and Trefriw is currently passable with care

Four schools in the area are closed and includexYsgol Pentrefoelas, Ysgol Trefriw, Ysgol Penmachno and Ysgol Eglwysbach.

There is a severe weather warning from the Met Office for all of Wales for tomorrow and Friday but only the area around the Conwy Valley is on orange alert. Weather should return to normal on Saturday and Sunday.
