Cash for Torfaen road safety

1/3/2010

Road safety schemes in Torfaen have received a £665,000 cash boost from the Welsh Assembly Government.

Schemes in Ponthir, Trevethin and Cwmbran will benefit from a share of the funding to improve pedestrian safety.

The money will be spent on improving roads and pavements, providing crossings and encouraging walking and cycling.

Support for this year's schemes included Communities First in Trevethin for improvements along Churchwood Path between St Cadocs Church and Pontypool, and Ponthir Community Council for developing a community access plan which combines travel plans for both the community and school.
