More support for Cynon Valley carers

20/10/2004

A new group is about to be launched in the Cynon Valley for people who care for someone with a stroke.

Each year in Wales and England, over 130,000 people experience a stroke. The consequences of a stroke can vary greatly from one person to another in the impact it has upon both the people with the stroke and their carers.

This is the first time a group for carers caring for someone with a stroke has been established in the Cynon Valley.

The first meeting is planned to take place on Tuesday 23rd November.

“The meeting is planned to be very informal, will usually involve a speaker suggested by group members as well as giving people the chance to share their experiences,” said Nigel Billingham, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Carers Support Manager.

For further information contact the Stroke Association on 01685 375245 or the Carers Support Project Freephone CarersLine 0808 100 1801.
