Give Your Garden A Treat This Halloween
Waste Awareness Wales is asking people in Bridgend to think green this Halloween and compost their pumpkins when they are finished with them.
There are lots of ways to make your Halloween a green one and Bridgend County Borough Council is keen to support the latest drive in the recycle for Wales/ailgylchu dros Gymru campaign. The council says not only can Bridgend residents compost both the inside and the carcass of a spooky pumpkin head, they can make a Halloween costume out of recycled textiles from local charity shops and even toast pumpkin seeds in the oven to make a healthy Halloween snack, salad sprinkle or topping for cakes and breads.
To learn more about how you can help by reducing, reusing and recycling your waste please call WAW recycle for Wales/ailgylchu dros Gymru recycling hotline on 0845 330 5540 or visit the website at www.wasteawarenesswales.org.uk
Stay safe - join the Children ' s Traffic Club
Youngsters in the county borough are being offered the opportunity to take part in a new road safety initiative called the Children ' s Traffic Club. The free club is open to all three-year olds living in Bridgend County Borough and participating children will receive six colourful books full of fun activities and crucial road safety lessons.
The scheme was launched on Thursday at Mizpah Day Nursery in Maesteg. The children were given a road safety lesson and enjoyed stories, songs, face painting and balloon modelling, all with a road safety theme. Registration leaflets are available from health visitors, nurseries and playgroups who kindly support the scheme. Alternatively, call (01656) 624594 or email roadsafety@bridgend.gov.uk
