Children and parents joined in a lantern parade in support of the National Eisteddfod which comes to Blaenau Gwent in 2010.

Local school children made special lanterns for the event.

After Ebbw Vale’s town centre Christmas lights were switched on the parade, led by the Blaenau Gwent Samba Band, headed off for a carol concert featuring the first ever performance by the newly formed Eisteddfod choir.

Coun Des Hillman, Leader of Blaenau Gwent Council, said:
“What an evening! Hundreds of people joined in. Hosting the Eisteddfod is a huge challenge – but Blaenau Gwent is up for it.�
