Willott to head Lib Dem election campaign 25/9/2006
Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Jenny Willott is to head up the party's campaign at the 2007 Welsh General Election.
Ms Willott , who turned the previously safe Labour seat of Cardiff Central in to a Lib Dem majority of more than 5,500 over two elections, will chair the campaign team devising election strategy.
Jenny Willott MP said: "The new powers available to the Assembly make this election the most important yet. Historians will look back on 2007 as a turning point in Welsh history.
"I want our campaign to focus on our ideas for Wales's future. While Labour has thrown away the trust of the people of Wales, we propose to put our trust in the people. We will devolve powers to the Assembly, and from the Assembly to our communities. We will put fairness back on the agenda , fairer votes, fairer taxes and a fairer society , and create opportunities for people and communities to achieve their potential."
Mike German, Leader of the Assembly Group, said: "Jenny Willott is a seasoned campaigner with first hand experience of taking the fight to Labour.
"From this week, we will be setting out our stall, outlining the ideas we have to create a greener and fairer Wales."
