South Wales Police Chief Constable Peter Vaughan has been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) in the New Year’s Honours.
Mr Vaughan joined South Wales Police in 1984 and has served at every rank in the force, serving the communities where he grew up and still lives.
In 2003 he took up the role of Assistant Chief Constable for Wiltshire Constabulary before returning toSouth Walesin 2007 where he became Deputy Chief Constable and subsequently Chief Constable in January 2010.
Mr Vaughan said:“It is a privilege to serve the communities ofSouth Wales and I am immensely proud to have spent the majority of my service in South Wales Police and to have served at every rank in the force.
“I owe much of what I have achieved throughout my career to my colleagues, and in particular to my family, who have always provided me with tremendous support.”
