He was convicted of inflicting grevious bodily harm (GBH) and battery following a party in a flat in Cwmcarn in August last year when several partyygoers fell asleep. The female occupant of the flat woke to find Harris had entered her flat uninvited.
He was standing over one of her male friends repeatedly punching the man to the head. She tried to intervene and protect her friend but was also punched several times to the face.
The male victim ended up in hospital for six days with a cracked rib and a collapsed right lung as well as cuts and bruising. The female suffered concussion, headaches, bruising and a swollen nose.
Detective Constable Tola Munro who investigated the attack commented: "Although Harris has no previous history of violence, this was an unprovoked and sustained attack on two defenceless people. The custodial sentence reflects the gravity of the crime."
