The starting stalls are about to fly open for the first time at Ffos Las Racecourse.
After the inaugural racing fixture over jumps last month, now it's the turn of the Flat racing community to sample Britain's newest racecourse.
The opening Flat meeting - on Tuesday 21 July - is also the racecourse's first family fun day when an array of entertainments and rides are being laid on for children.
The racecourse's mascot will be seen for the first time - and he'll be taking part in the Mascot Derby before the horse racing begins.
On the racecourse, the first ever Flat race is the EBF/Jamie Yeates Memorial Maiden Stakes at 2.30pm.
The six-furlong race - supported by Carmarthenshire Community Council and by local racehorse trainer Alison Thorpe - is in memory of 15-year-old aspiring jockey Jamie Yeates who was stabbed to death in Llanelli in January.
With advance ticket sales already healthy, General Manager Jon Williams anticipates a crowd of about 3,000.
He said: "Our first Flat racing promises to be a great day out for all the family. We're providing entertainments like a bungee run, bouncy castle and face painters, so there will be something for everyone to see and do."
Accompanied children under 16 are always admitted free to the racecourse. Admission for over 16s is £15.
The last race of seven is at 5.30pm.
Tickets for Ffos Las's eight fixtures between July and December, as well as annual badges, can be bought online at www.ffoslasracecourse.com or by calling 01554 811092/389. The quickest way to purchase tickets is online.
The racecourse was recently granted an additional fixture on Saturday 12 September, creating a two-day weekend meeting.
