
Will Howard, who is studying the MA in Acting for Stage, Screen and Radio at the Welsh College of Music and Drama,, has won this year’s Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award. Final year BA Acting student, Katherine Pearce, is a runner up.
Named after Carleton Hobbs, who was a famous radio actor during the ‘Golden Age of Radio’, the competition looks for distinctive, versatile radio voices from the UK’s drama schools.
Will was chosen as one of four winners out of a pool of 88 students from 22 drama schools. He wins a five-month salaried contract with the BBC Radio Drama Company, which produces drama for Radio 3, Radio 4, the World Service and BBC 7.
Since 1996, there have been an impressive nine winners and four runners up from RWCMD.
